The Sapiranga Reserve with its 533.05 hectares of land is characterized by
a secondary area of the Atlantic Forest, because during the Portuguese colonization period, this area was completely devastated for the planting of coconut monoculture and also for the practice of extensive livestock farming. Today, the Atlantic Forest is recovering naturally. The local fauna and flora are exuberant, as they find the refuge necessary for survival there, with the flora represented by medium and large pioneer trees and the fauna represented by animals threatened with extinction.
